Interviews

Born in Railway City, Vincent grew up the oldest of two children to a railroad worker and a waitress. After graduating high school, Vincent went to college and got his degree in psyschology and counseling. He then started a small practice before landing the role of Randy on Pahala Shore.

Vincent recently took time out of his busy schedule of filming Pahala Shore's to answer a few questions and share some of his life with adoring fans:

What first got you into acting? First job?
-This is my first acting job. I am a certified counselor and was originally hired to help the actors and actresses get into chracter and to treat any personal issues that they might want to talk about. It's part of the union.

How did your role come about?
-The producer was still looking for an actor to play the role of Randy so in the meantime I was reading Randy's role during auditions for Russel-Randy's brother. After the audition process, I was offered the job.

In Pahala, you play both a windower and Dad, did you, and if so, how did you go about researching for this role?
-Well, as a counselor I have been exposed to several men who have been left in such a position and I just thought about how they felt and rummaged through a few patient files for inspiration.

How do you get on with your fellow cast?
-We get along alright. Jesse [Russel] is my cousin so we share an apartment together at the moment. The cast is great since everyone is so different, no one acts like a superstar-well, except for a few sims and sometimes there is a clash of egos, but otherwise the set is a great place to be. I enjoy playing video games with Susan-[my on screen daughter Carli] and Iris [Lani] always brings these delicious cakes and pies to the set-yummy!

We know that your a certified counsellor. Why were you interested in this as a career option?
-I feel valued. Someteimes sims just want another sim to listen to them, I provide that listening ear. I grew up always asking questions and listening to others and my teachers encouraged me to go into counseling.

Any plans for the future career wise? Would you like to try short film etc?
-I wouldn't mind trying out more acting and perhaps a short film, but until then I do still have my day job as a counselor. Right now I am trying to balance the filming schedule with my appointments with regular clients and attending university part-time.

Now, as always, a little about yourself. Married? Children? Girlfriend?Your adoring fans will want to know if your single!
-Right now I am single, I think I'm going through a dry spell in my life far as love is concerned. Sometimes it is hard since I am not the youngest sim around and I haven't been blessed with love or a girlfriend. So sometimes I am a little down in the dumps about being single. But I'm looking! LOL!

How are you coping with the fame aspects of a high profile role such as Pahala Shore?
-Thankfully sims don't recognize me as much, so I am free to move about as I please. But my clients have been worried, they are concerned that their stories will end up in the Pahala storylines. So I have to assure them that I am a counselor first and that I have nothing to do with the writing process-I only read the lines!

What do you do in your spare time. I mean, I know there's parties, awards ceremony's etc. But on a Sunday morning, when you don't have to go to work and the day's yours...what do you do?
-Usually I wake up for a run with Jesse and then we come back and cook breakfast-I usually eat pancakes, he eats some tofu smoothie thing. Then I attend church and read a few pyschology journals before lunch. I have a standing lunch date with my sister and her husband and after lunch they turn thier twin daughters over to me for a few hours. After that I usually go back to the apartment with Jesse and get ready for the week with filming and clients. I lead a pretty boring life! LOL!

Will you be going to the Sim Oscars and Golden Stars?
-I would like to attend, I have to get my flights arranged and such, but it depends on if my sister needs me to babysit and if I get nominated.
