Back at the Diner Adam reappears:
"Hi" Pen flustered on seeing Adam and remembering how he'd run out on her
"Hi Penelope, I am so sorry I had to run out like that on you. I suddenly remembered a previous engagement that I just had to make..I'm so sorry."
Pen smiled as she heard the reassurance that she needed "I thought it was me!"
"No way! Would I jus run off and leave a gorgeous women like you standing around for no reason!! No, no, I'm truly sorry. That's why I came back."
"Oh, so you don't want anything?"
"Only to see your beuatiful eyes again.."

"Really? How lovely" Penelope blushed
"Well, its something that Sims don't do enough in life....comliment ladies that is."
"Oh" Penelope growing redder by the second and on remembering Jen's comments about being cool she quipped "And I'm glad to see your..um...nose"
"What? Ok..."Adam replied whilst Pen wanted the ground to open...nose? Lovely lips, or smile but nose? "So anyway"Adam continued "I was wondering if you wanted to have a drink sometime."
"Oh, umm, yes I'd love too."
"Ok, well what about tomorrow night?"
"Oh yes"Penelope beamed, "Perfect, here..." and she grabbed a napkin and scrawled her number down "Let me know what time you'll pick me up."
"Ok, well, till tomorrow then I guess. Bye Penelope, thankyou for making my day.."
"Oh, thanks!" Penelope glowed with glee "See you tomorrow."

"Oh Jen, did you see that! How was I? So cool wasn't I?"
"Oh Pen" Jen sighed "At least he asked you but "I'm glad to see you nose" Jen mimicked Pen's slip-up.
"I know...but, he still asked me didn't he! Oh no...Jen, you know what this means!"
"What?"
"I'm actually going to go on a date...I haven't done that in years! What if I've forgotten how to act, or just go silent...oh Jen, its going to be a disaster."
"No its not, you'll be fine. Just be yourself, your a great women Pen, he'll love you."
"I hope so, he is rather lovely isn't he"

"Well, I wouldn't completely agree with that" Jen replied cautiously
"What do you mean?"
"Oh come on Pen "Only to see your beautiful eyes", please, how corny is that!"
"Well I liked him! Jen, why do you have to put a damper on it, this is the first man I've met in ages."
"I just don't want you getting hurt..he seems a bit too much of a ladies man thats all."
"Oh, why does this always happen to me, nothing ever goes right."
"I'm sorry Pen, come on, I'm sure he's lovely, so, we need to discuss what you might wear!"

At the Tomlin's house Maria arrives:
"Hi Max, is your Mum in?"
"Mrs Heppal! How are you? I mean, your out, how great is that!"
"Oh, thankyou Max, that's very nice of you...did I wake you?"
"Yeah" Max said sleepily "I was up all night studying...its hard work these finals, I'm never going to pass them."

"Oh, yes you will! You and Laura will sail through them, I know you will." Maria looked passed Max and into the house "So is your Mum around?"
"Oh yeah, sorry. No, she's working this morning, just me."
"Ok, I don't really want to go down to the complex so can you just tell her I stopped by."
"Yeah sure, but the complex is only a few minutes walk, I'm sure she'd love to see you."
"Oh its not that Max, I just, well" She paused "everyone's talking about me, I don't feel like being the centre of attention today."
"Ok, well I'll tell Ma you stopped by" Maria turned to go but Max called after her "And I'll be sure to set the gossips right if I hear anything ok."
Maria gave a smile "Thanks Max, you really are a great kid. And I'm sure you will do fine in the exams, I'll be rooting for you."

At the park Kate took a rest whilst Chris played:
"You alright little Chris, hey? Yeah of course you are but I bet you wish your Mum were here don't you. I sure miss her, and your Daddy does too...."

Kate's quiet thought was interrupted by the voice of an old lady:
"What the hell are you doing?" She screamed at Kate
"What?"
"This" she pointed at Chris "What sort of mother are you, he's crawling around in the dirt, right next to a pond! He could have fallen in and drowned and you wouldn't even have noticed, the kinda trance you were in!!"
"He's fine, why don't you mind your own business!" Kate replied, feeling anger start to well inside her.
"Mind my own business!!" the lady shrieked "I should be calling social services, you not fit to be his mum!!"
"I'm not! I'm just looking after him" Kate shrieked back
"What...you have to pay them to let you take him out! I've got a good mind to follow you home and speak to his mother myself!"
"She's dead, no if you don't mind BUTT OUT!!"
"Dead!? Poor cow, left her son in your charge, she'll be rolling in her grave"

"Ok, thats ENOUGH! GO AWAY YOU OLD HAG!" Kate screamed whilst holding back tears "She was my bestfriend, come on Chris, we're going.."
"Oh no your not!! I want to know where you live! I can't let this go!"
"What you gonna do, throw me in the pond!! Come on..." And with that Kate reached down, picked up Chris and left the old lady ranting to herself in the park.

Its afternoon and Adelaide arrives to see Tom:
"Haa, take that!" Adelaide laughed as she gave Tom a well placed nookie "Where did you go so quick after class? I was looking for you."
"Oh, I'm grounded " moaned Tom "Look, lets sneak upstairs otherwise your gonna get kicked out."

"So what'd you do?"
"Just stole some stupid computer game! I mean, he forgets my birthday, I don't get any presents so I took some stuff for myself! Its not so bad. Then he had a go at me about running out the diner, I really hate his sometimes!"
"Dude, we all hate our folks sometimes...look mine left me in a crappy boarding school and I had to take a bunsen burner to someones hair to get kicked out. Its the whole scheme of life!! We're just living it rather than sitting on our butts like they are!!"
"Hell, your so right!! You really took a bunsen burner to someones hair?"
"Too right. She was some preppy, blonde bitch who had it in for me cause I dressed different...I wasn't taking that!! Last time I saw her, she definately weren't blonde!! The two fell about laughing at the thought of the not so blonde, more like charred girl.

"So how long you grounded?" Asked Adelaide
"Well he says indefinately but he'll give up eventually. If I just help Mum do some cooking and stuff he'll let me out soon."
"Cool! Cause I wanna take you to a place I found. Its great, you'll love it!"
"What is it?"
"Lets just say, we'll give your folks, and mine, a fright once we come back from this place."

At the Dixon's Daniel arrives home from school:
"Hi Mum, I need some help."

"Well there's this fete at school...you know to raise this money for the new gym they've been talking about! Anyway, they're having a cake stall and all year 9's are supposed to make something."
"Oh Daniel, I'll do my best, but I really don't know if I'll have time with work and everything."
"You have too, Mum, please...I can't be the only one that doesn't turn up with anything."

"Ok then Daniel, I'll sort something out, heaven knows when I'll find the time but I will! Oh God! We haven't even got an oven at the moment...I'll have to ask Jen if I can do some baking at work."
"Mum, your the best!! Thankyou!"
"Well, remember this in the future please, when your about to scream at me for something! Remember "I'm the best". No go on...go do your homework and I'll order some pizza."
"Not pizza again!"
"We'll have a new kitchen soon Daniel, then I'll get Gran to bake properly ok."
"Great!"

As Daniel disappeared up the stairs Pen at herself in the mirror:
"Oh God" She moaned "Why the hell did I think that dating again was such a good idea? Beautiful eyes? More like tired and worn out ones...oh dear, and what on earth am I going to wear.."
"Mum, talking to yourself's the first sign of madness you know! I don't want you turning into Gran!"
"That's not a very nice thing to say Dee."
"Well, she is a little senile...its only the truth."

"Well she's compus mentas enough to be able to hear you ok. And anyway yound lady, you have our genes so this might be you one day!" Pen said with a smirk "Now, how do I look?"
"Fine, why?"
"Dee....I've got a date!"
"WHAT?! No, you can't, your my Mum!" Dee cried
"Yeah and why not? I'm single, and a rather nice man has asked me out..."
"eeww" Dee grimaced "I dont' even wanna think about it Mum, sorry, but I can't..."

At home Garth & Sydney watch TV:
"Evening all" Paul smiled as he walked into the living room "How is everyone?"
"Fine babe" Sydney replied
"Good thanks Paul, I've had a nice relaxing day at home"
"Well I'm glad about that Garth but I need to have a talk to you about the rent."
Sydney quickly got up of the sofa "sounds like time for me to make my exit"

"Ok so hit me, what's the problem" Garth asked
"Well basically I need to up your rent. Bills just seem to be spiralling out of control and I can't afford to have you paying so little!"
"Yeah but you know why they're spiralling...its because of Adelaide. Ok, so she's Sydney's daughter, but hell, does she use a lot of hot water!"
"I know and I've spoken to Sydney and she's gonna be paying more money but you need to as well."
"Huh, ok, well I hope my loan will cover it. How much?"
"700Simoleons a week."

"HOW MUCH?!" Garth bellowed as he got to his feet "Thats daylight robbery! My loan can't cover that!"
"Well for everybody else who has a job that amount is easily feasable. Garth, I hate to say it but you'll have to get a job or leave."
